The Last Marching Orders aka Last Update For March

For now I have finally actually settled on my next project after having just recently finished Wurm's Blood.  I am still waiting on my co-author to work on it some for editing the proof and it's been slow going as he seems to lack motivation.  So I have started my next project, The Cycles of Conquest.  This project is at its core based after Irish Mythology, namely The Book of Invasions.  The first novel in this series I have entitled The First Ones.  So far the premise for this first book shall be about the first ones to land and attempt to settle the island of Eirren, and the trails and tribulations they experience in the attempt.

Here is a snippet of what I just recently wrote up for you to sample:

Wide grins of anticipation and excitement plastered to their faces, Tuan and Cian Cecht sat upon the rails leading up to the beginning of the bowsprit, “You are sure it wasn’t just another of her fever dreams and it really was a true Vision?”

Tuan’s grin had refused to leave his face even as he defended his claims to his golden haired friend, “Faith, Cian.  Even Finn knew it for a true Vision. Would you dare doubt The Word of one of the most powerful druids left in this world.  I believe in my mother’s Gift of the Sight.  Once She had foreseen….”

“Cian, please come down and play with me.”  A little golden haired girl, their junior by eight years, pleaded and interrupted Tuan.  She nervously sucked on a bit of her tunic’s collar which she had pulled towards her mouth; her head remained downcast, unable to look up into the faces of the two boys.

Cian had turned to face her and gestured dismissively with his left hand at his little sister, Ciara, “Go away.  We are discussing and doing important things right now.  We don’t have time to play silly girl games.”

Tuan patiently watched as the little girl had summoned up her courage, and had taken a single step closer towards them, “Important things?  Maybe I can help?”  she suggested in a very meek and muffled voice as she still had part of her tunic’s collar in her mouth.

A slight tone of anger edged Cian’s voice as he attempted to drive her off with his brusque manner, “I told you this is important man stuff.  Now go away Ciara.  Get Bronagh or Ruad to play with you.  We want to be the first ones to see land.”

She had rushed forward in excitement; proclaiming proudly and in a louder then usual for her voice, “I wanna see!”
